Overview
Racing Box is developed by YAO CHENG. The app is designed to provide motorsport schedules, standings, results, weather signals, reminders, and Home Screen widgets without requiring an account.
Information we do not collect
Racing Box does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, or advertising identifier. It does not include third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-app tracking technologies.
App settings and cached data
Your language, appearance, reminder selections, favorite driver and team, widget preferences, and cached race data are stored locally on your device or in the app’s shared container so that the app and its widgets can work together. Racing Box does not operate an account system or upload these preferences to a developer-controlled account database.
You can remove locally stored app data by deleting Racing Box from your device. Purchase records associated with your Apple Account are controlled by Apple and are not removed when the app is deleted.
Network data providers
To retrieve schedules, standings, results, and circuit weather, Racing Box uses race-data and weather providers including OpenF1, Jolpica, and Open-Meteo. These requests concern public race information and circuit coordinates, not your device’s location.
Version 1.2 and later send these requests through api.racingboxwidgets.com. The relay forwards only the provider path and query needed for the requested race information or circuit forecast; it does not forward client-IP headers, App settings, favorites, reminders, purchase history, precise location, or advertising identifiers. Providers receive the relay server’s network address and the requested public-data parameters rather than the App user’s network address. Version 1.1 and earlier may connect directly to providers, which may receive standard request information such as an IP address, request time, requested URL, circuit coordinates, and user-agent information.
Open-Meteo states that individual API logs are removed after 90 days. Racing Box does not receive or store provider logs. Provider logs are governed by each provider’s policies and may be used to operate, secure, and protect their services; Racing Box does not use them for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Provider information: OpenF1, Jolpica, and Open-Meteo terms. Attribution and licensing links are collected on the Data & Licenses page.
Developer-operated services
Racing Box requests small configuration and content-manifest files from api.racingboxwidgets.com to keep its official support links, regulatory filing information, race schedules, translations, circuit facts, visual settings, driver and team labels, and references to reviewed assets current. Version 1.2 also uses the same hostname as the restricted relay described above. Configuration and manifest files contain data only and cannot add executable code or change the app’s feature structure.
Version 1.2 and later use only the official Racing Box hostnames for these files. Version 1.1 and earlier may use the developer’s historical bushiyaocheng.github.io/racing-box-support page as a compatibility fallback. Reviewed image resources, when available, are accepted only from assets.racingboxwidgets.com. If a service is unavailable, Racing Box continues using bundled or previously verified content.
These requests do not contain your app settings, favorites, reminders, purchase history, precise location, or advertising identifier. Like any internet service, the hosting and network infrastructure may process standard request information such as an IP address, request time, requested URL, and user-agent information for delivery and security. Racing Box does not use this information for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking. Developer-controlled web-server access logging for the official static service is disabled; infrastructure security records, if generated by a hosting provider, are handled under that provider’s security and retention practices.
Notifications
If you enable race reminders, Racing Box requests notification permission and schedules reminders locally on your device. The app does not use reminders to build an advertising profile.
Purchases
Racing Box Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Racing Box can receive transaction and entitlement status needed to unlock purchased features, but it does not receive your full payment-card details. Apple’s processing is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and media-services terms.
Children
Racing Box is a general-audience motorsport utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated if Racing Box’s features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
